Mawdsleys Win 3 Year Overhaul Contract For Great Western Railway

Mawdsleys are delighted to announce the acquisition of an overhaul contract with a local business partner for the receipt of up to 3 DC motors per week from Great Western Railway.

We often deal with both AC and DC traction motors, generators, alternators and associated equipment for fault investigation, repair and overhauls. These types of DC alternators are found on local train carriages run and maintained by Great Western Railway, below you can see how the motors are received:

Our workshop is fully equipped with all the associated equipment needed to carry out refurbishment and overhauls on traction motor equipment including, curing ovens, overhead cranes, grit-blasting facilities, spare parts and our state of the art rewinding facilities. We also have capability to manufacture many traction motor components in house, allowing us to offer quick turnarounds on contracts at competitive rates.

When we receive each unit into the workshop, we first inspect them to identify any immediate issues, then go on to strip each unit and steam clean, stove the stators, remove and replace the bearings, clean thoroughly and finally paint all parts to have then looking like new before re-assembling and carrying out final testing on the units.
