As a trusted partner of Bristol University, we were called on-site to assess two sets of twin water supply pumps which had been causing problems.
The pumps were not supplying the correct pressure, and appeared to be corroded and leaking. The access on site was limited, so our engineers removed two of the pumps for further investigation in our workshop. They had failed mechanical seals, seized bearings and O-rings, and one of the pumps had a split casing.
Due to the age of the pumps, parts were obsolete. Mawdsleys engineers calculated the required flow rate, pressure and workloads, and came up with a more efficient, quieter pump.
The remaining pumps were removed, and all four were replaced over a short period, allowing the university building to remain open. Since the new pumps were installed, all has run smoothly. Another successful solution!
